Project summary

The refurbishment of 10 George Street brings Grade A office space to Edinburgh’s New Town, a renowned heritage site and central location for businesses and retail.

Originally completed in 1993, the existing facade masonry was kept intact while the curtain walling was remodelled to give the structure a modern renewal and improve energy efficiency.

The building is comprised of six upper floors, a ground floor and a basement level. The transformation has provided 67,000 sq ft of high-quality workspace, a double-height entrance and reception, three levels of roof terraces offering cityscape views, a car park, cycle spaces, and showering/changing facilities at lower ground level and a complete replacement of the building services plant.

Sandy Brown were commissioned to provide full acoustic consultancy services for the base-build redevelopment and have subsequently advised on Cat B fit-outs for a number of tenants on different floors of the building.

The project was a winner in the Refurbished/Recycled Workplace category at the British Council for Offices (BCO) Awards Scotland 2020.
