Prior to joining to Sandy Brown, I worked as an acoustic consultant at three different consultancies,including a small independent consultancy with a handful of staff, a medium sized national consultancy and a multi-national multi-disciplinary company. Whilst there are positives and negatives at all three types of company, for me, as a large independent company focused solely on acoustics, Sandy Brown is able to combine the opportunities and resources associated with working for a large company, with the approachability and focus of small independent companies.
The main points that drew me to Sandy Brown were the fantastic reputation of the company in the acoustics world and the scale and prestigiousness of projects. Having worked here for a while now, I have worked on a wide variety of projects across the residential, educational, healthcare and leisure sectors. The focus is generally on the building acoustics side of things, where my interest lies following experience in the various fields of acoustics throughout my career.
I joined the Sandy Brown office in Birmingham in 2015 as a Senior Engineer. At the time the office had only been open for a little over 6 months, and it consisted of three members of staff including me.
During my time here, the office has grown both in terms of staff numbers and in terms of workload, and I feel I have grown along with it. I have been given plenty of support during my time at Sandy Brown as well as given the opportunity and responsibility to develop myself as a consultant, which at the end of 2018 resulted in my promotion to Associate.
I have enjoyed my time at Sandy Brown to date, the company provides a fantastic working environment to develop as a consultant, and I am looking forward to the challenges and opportunities working here presents over the coming years.
